The Story Behind Living Vintage

When we opened Living Vintage back in 2014, we wanted to do something completely different.  Something that hasn't been done before.  We simply did not want to just open another antique mall.  Our goal was to create something new, unique and fresh.  Something that was beautifully designed in a way that you might decorate your own home.  A little of the old, a little of the new and a little of the repurposed.  We set out to create what we call a vintage home store.

The Back Story:  In the early 90s, Chris and Robin Jennings wanted to create a lifestyle that allowed them to stay at home and raise their 2 sons, Jeramy and Andy.  They decided to learn the art of woodworking and for the next decade they traveled all around the Midwest doing different craft shows and local markets in addition to a handful of wholesale stores.  As the boys grew older, they decided to go back to work full time... but Robin just couldn't stop that "itch" to be creative.

After getting bored with constantly redecorating and repainting her own home (trust me... I mean constant), she decided to open a small booth in a local antique mall in Eldridge, IA.

Living Vintage Eldridge

Shortly after, that shop ended up closing and that's when Chris & Robin decided to open Living Vintage.  Living Vintage was a labor of love of the Jennings family and niece, Ashley.  The entire store of Living Vintage and team of 30 vendors was built in 30 days and opened Labor Day weekend in 2014.

After 2 and a half years, LV quickly outgrew the Eldridge location and decided to move to a larger space in DeWitt.  This was a little bit of a "homecoming" for us since they called DeWitt home for many years.  During this move, Jeramy and his wife Lindsay came on the team full time as co-owners and the family was "all-in."

The transition to DeWitt was a huge success!  So much so that we outgrew that location within a year and a half.  While we wanted to remain in the beloved town of DeWitt, there simply wasn't a space large enough.  That's when we decided to move to our current location on Brady Street in Davenport.

We could not be more excited to be in the QCA!  We are in love with the new building and it has allowed LV to grow the team of vendors and consignors to over 100!  We now have over 16,000 square feet of retail space to display all of our amazing home decor, furniture and vintage pieces.  The best part - plans are already underway to expand in the near future.

We very proudly have grown our team of employees to 7 and each one of them do an excellent job consulting on our customer's decorating needs.

"Our desire is to demonstrate to our customers how to mix together the old and the new to create a unique style and look in their own homes," Robin said.  "When you walk into our Vintage Home Store, you will find beautifully decorated room settings that show our vintage goods just as they could fit into the customer’s home."
